The second wine pairing event held at Under Grain was an exceptional evening
The second Wine & Dine evening in a series of elegant events organised by Grain and Cleland & Souchet took place in Valletta on Thursday, 14th November. Guests were welcomed to the recently-opened Under Grain, located on Merchants Street in the capital, for a spectacular food and wine pairing event.
Esteemed guests were treated to welcome cocktails upon entering the restaurant, as they chatted and networked among the intimate crowd. Also in attendance was Ms Claire Zammit Xuereb, Group Hospitality Director at AX Hotels, who said: “Tonight we are proud to be hosting you all for the second instalment of our Wine Pairing event, held in collaboration with Cleland & Souchet. I’d like to thank our highly talented chefs and staff for organising an event of such high quality, and hope that you enjoy your evening!”
The menu, specially crafted for the occasion, consisted of five courses paired with different fine wines from France. To start, guests were treated to a selection of snacks, followed by a warm oyster mushroom salad and a confit of wild sea bass, and ending with a Pistachio and EVOO cake, coffee and petit fours. The wines included the notable Chateau Puech Haut Prestige Rose (Languedoc), Gustave Lorentz Riesling Reserve (Alsace) and Chateau du Lort Bordeau Superieur (Bordeaux). At the end of the evening, dessert was paired with a glass of Amarula Cream Liqueur from South Africa.
